About our Hotel

At the foot of the White Mountains (Lefka Ori), where the peaks descend into the Libyan Sea, lies Agia Roumeli – a small, authentic Cretan village that can only be reached by boat or on foot, by those walking down through the Samaria Gorge to meet the sea, or others following the impressive, unspoiled and rugged south coast of Crete.

Here, time seems to move differently. The air is pure, the sea is clear, and life follows the rhythm of the sun and the seasons. It’s a place where tradition, nature and community still live as one.

Since 1975 our family has been running Paralia Hotel & Taverna, built on the Cretan values of filoxenía (hospitality), oikoyénia (family) and timí (honour). We welcome every guest with the same warmth as a friend. Our dishes are made with what the land and sea provide: vegetables from our garden, meat from our own animals, olive oil from our trees and wine from friends in the village. In this way, we share not only our food, but also our pride – the true taste of Crete.

For us, luxury isn’t what you own, but what you experience: a good conversation, a glass of wine at sunset, or silence after a long walk. Whether you come to rest, to hike, or simply to enjoy life here – in Paralia, you are not just a visitor, but part of our story. Because in Crete, we believe that true hospitality begins where people truly see each other.
